Location of the apartment
Chemin de la Larze, just off Route des
Pelerins
- A town centre locationnot to be confused with
Argentiere, Vallorcine, Les Houches etc.
As Barrats A is less than a 10 minutes amble (which passes many restaurants and shops on the way) to the central market place, it's not necessary to have a car to enjoy your stay in Chamonix. The main bus stop is about a 1 minute walk and train station about 10 minutes.
However, we have plenty of parking spaces available to guests next to the flat. This can be invaluable during peak seasons when parking in the centre can be sparse and expensive.
The apartment is easily found fromthe N506 Route de Blanche at the Grepon round about, following signs
for the Hospital.
Proximity of ski lifts from the front door (hit the links and see the maps):
Boulangerie.Although Cham Sud has a Spar
supermarket and other boulangeries are closer our favourite is on Promanade Marie Paradis, Le Fournil Chamoniard (the same name as the one on Aiguille du Midi) 400m away.
The main bus stop of Cham Sud is also just
100 metres from the flat. Being at the begining of the bus route its easier to get a seat at busy times.
Although
a car can be an asset in Chamonix, free buses operate linking the villages
of Les Houches, Servoz, Chamonix and Vallorcine. (link)
Sledging hill:
Closest to the flat is at
Grepon parking area (H17) just of the N506; 5 mins walk.
Playgrounds:
The largest is next to the market square by the side of the river and Maison Pour Tous (F20). A smaller park is also available next to the river towards the sports centre (E21). Heading in the alternative direction out of town, a small park is available in Les Favrands on Promenade Marie Paradis (E14).
