Location of the apartment

Chemin de la Larze, just off Route des Pelerins

- A town centre location not to be confused with Argentiere, Vallorcine, Les Houches etc.

As Barrats A is less than a 10 minutes amble (which passes many restaurants and shops on the way) to the central market place, it's not necessary to have a car to enjoy your stay in Chamonix. The main bus stop is about a 1 minute walk and train station about 10 minutes.

However, we have plenty of parking spaces available to guests next to the flat.  This can be invaluable during peak seasons when parking in the centre can be sparse and expensive.

The apartment is easily found from the N506 Route de Blanche at the Grepon round about, following signs for the Hospital.

Proximity of ski lifts from the front door (hit the links and see the maps):

Aiguille du Midi: 400m

Brevent: 1.2Km

Savoy 1.3km

Plannards (Luge d’Ete, Parc de loisirs): 1.5km

Les Houches: 7.8km

Grand Montets: 9.5km

Proximity to general amenities:

Boulangerie.  Although Cham Sud has a Spar supermarket and other boulangeries are closer our favourite is on Promanade Marie Paradis, Le Fournil Chamoniard (the same name as the one on Aiguille du Midi) 400m away.

Cham Sud shopping area: 300m

Proximity of public transport from the door:

Chamonix SNCF train station is 700m from Barrats A.

The main bus stop of Cham Sud is also just 100 metres from the flat. Being at the begining of the bus route its easier to get a seat at busy times.

Although a car can be an asset in Chamonix, free buses operate linking the villages of Les Houches, Servoz, Chamonix and Vallorcine. (link)

Sledging hill:

Closest to the flat is at Grepon parking area (H17) just of the N506; 5 mins walk.

Playgrounds:

The largest is next to the market square by the side of the river and Maison Pour Tous (F20). A smaller park is also available next to the river towards the sports centre (E21).  Heading in the alternative direction out of town, a small park is available in Les Favrands on Promenade Marie Paradis (E14).
